Totally Fun Game Apps You've Never Played before ...

If you’re bored of the usual games you play on your phone, it’s time to try something new. Something interesting. Something different to anything else you play. These games below aren’t at the top of the games download charts but they are innovative, interesting, challenging, different and fun.

1 Papers Please

This is an indie game with terrible graphics that is oddly addictive. You have to be observant and remember a great deal in order to do your job right. The biggest downside is that some elements of your checks require a visual look, and it can be difficult to spot the difference between a knife and a glasses case on a body scan.

2 Zombie’s Run!

Zombie’s Run!Android/iOS/Windows Phone -

This is an app that encourages you to run by having you chased by the sound of zombies. The more you slow down, then the more they catch up with you until you can hear them over your shoulder.

Your objective is to race, but your landscape keeps changing because you are chasing the sunset.

4 Prune

PruneAndroid/iOS/Windows Phone -

This app is expensive, but some say it is relaxing. The idea is to prune a plant and have it grow. You can swipe to have it lean towards the sun.

5 Pride Fest

This is a city building game where you build it around a Pride carnival. It is a fun way to celebrate the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) community.

6 You Must Build a Boat

Match three-puzzle elements to power up and race. You must build a boat allows you to personalize in a way that changes how you race and play the game.

7 Twofold Inc

This is another game in the Twist-to-Match genre. You are given tiles and you are supposed to connect them together while thinking several moves ahead.

8 Vainglory

This is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game for touch screen devices. It allows you to blast around frantically with other people. People with sharper response times will prevail.

9 The Sailor’s Dream

This is a story game. It is really the sort of thing you need to preview and try before you can understand its charms. The developers were thinking outside the box when they made it.

10 Thomas Was Alone

You are a rectangle in this game and you take the leading role as a jumper. It is a story about friendship and jumping with very simple game mechanics.

11 The Room Three

The Room Three gives you tactile physical puzzles that you have to solve. They are tailor-made for touch screen devices rather than a single gaming device. The puzzles are very tricky.

12 Spider: Rite of the Shrouded Moon

Play as a spider that catches insects. You also have to solve the mystery around why the house you are crawling around has been abandoned. If anything, it is original.

13 SPL-T


This is a very weird and original puzzle game that splits your screen. Even the videos of it being played make no sense and do not explain how it works, you simply have to try it yourself if you can afford it. Maybe try it on somebody else’s phone before buying it yourself.

14 Roblox

Make your own games with this app and post them online. Play the games that other people have made if you wish. It is not advanced, but it is free and gives you a chance to make your own game.

15 Ryan North’s to Be or Not to Be

Play along and watch as the app takes a sledgehammer to Shakespeare’s Hamlet. It has a second-person nonlinear branching narrative format. It is a little like a game and a book in one.

16 Neko Atsume: Kitty Collector

This is a game where you collect cats. It is Japanese and very quirky. You attract cats and then log them into your cat book a little like collecting gaming cards or pogs.

17 New Star Soccer

It allows you to play FIFA soccer on your tablet or Smartphone. It rethinks the way that soccer works on a small screen and is ideal for people that have not enjoyed other games’ take on mobile soccer.

18 Minecraft: Pocket Edition

Play a smaller version of the Minecraft world. If you are not aware of what Minecraft is yet, then you are not missing much and it is probably best if you do not try to get involved with its highly addictive block-filled world.

19 Monument Valley

This is an architectural puzzler. You have to flip, twist and slide the scenery within the geometrically beautiful levels in order to solve the mazes in the game.

20 Motion Tennis

It is similar to a Wii game in which you are supposed to swing your arm around the play. The only difference is that the swings are small enough so you can keep your eye on the screen. You look like a nut when you are playing it in public though.

21 Her Story

Go through a murder mystery as the detective. You get to watch video footage of the interviews with the chief suspect. Mine the video database to figure out the truth.

22 Evoland

This is a role-playing game that takes you from very old-fashioned RPG games up to more modern-looking games. It may hold the attention of RPG game lovers.
