1. ICE: in Case of Emergency
For Android : play.google.com
ICE is one of of the most essential apps for emergencies available. It allows you to keep all of your information organized and in one place. The cool thing about this is that your emergency contacts can be called directly from the app. You can also store details like your doctor's information, your medical history, and medications that you're currently taking.
2. Winter Survival Kit
For iTunes: itunes.apple.com
If your car gets stranded in severe weather, it can be quite scary. This app is a great way to have peace of mind if that happens. Winter Survival Kit can help you pinpoint your current location and alert emergency contacts if you become stranded. My favorite thing about this app is that it can calculate how long it's safe to have your engine running. The app will then alert you every 30 minutes to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning.

In an emergency there isn't always time to make calls or send a text. Especially if you're the one who needs help. With this app, you simply press the red panic button and an alert is sent to your emergency contact. The alert contains your current location, so you can get help right away.

6. Life360 - Family Locator
For Android at: play.google.com
If a disaster strikes, the members of our family are likely to be in different locations. This app lets you know that all members of your family are safe. You can also use it to see if a family member has made it to their destination. It can also be used to track your lost or stolen phone.
7. Know Your Plan
For iTunes: itunes.apple.com
I will be honest. My family doesn't have a plan in case of emergencies. If you don't either, this is a great app to check out. The Know Your Plan has customizable checklists to help you get prepared for an emergency now. You can save the lists and change them as needed.
I'm very happy that we have access to great apps like the ones on this list. Are there any emergency apps that you currently have? Have you ever had to use them in an emergency?
