1. CloudOn
On iTunes: itunes.apple.com
CloudOn is my absolute favorite of all apps for writers! CloudOn provides a full Microsoft Word experience, complete with font options, bullet points, and pointed cursor – to name a few. CloudOn allows me the freedom to write from anywhere there is a Wi-Fi connection. It is free and oh, so convenient. Download the app to your phone or tablet and you are set to move between devices without missing a beat in your writing. CloudOn syncs your documents to an online document storage location like Dropbox.

Dropbox is an online file storage program and the app is a wonderful extension of it! This free app allows you to view your stored documents, videos, and photos on the go. 3. Dictionary.com
On iTunes: itunes.apple.com
As much as I like to talk, and write, words sometimes fail me! So, after I swear, I open my Dictionary.com app. This is a great app because it is not only a mobile dictionary but because it also has a built-in thesaurus. There is no need to download a separate thesaurus app! When you aren’t checking for proper spelling or alternative word choice, check out the word of the day or view an in-app photo slideshow!
4. Pocket
On iTunes: itunes.apple.com
Pocket is a neat little app that allows you to collect items in one place for viewing later, offline. You can install the app on your iPhone, iPad, computer, or all three. Pocket works by downloading a copy of a web page (photos and all) to your pocket account. You can also send email messages to your Pocket account for later offline review. I love this app because it allows me to keep electronic copies of materials with me at all times and view them even if Wi-Fi isn’t available.
5. Storyist
On iTunes: itunes.apple.com
Ok, I’m going to put it out there: this app is pricey. Now, with that said, it is totally worth the $9.99. Storyist is a great app for writers working on manuscripts or other similar pieces. In this app you will create manuscripts or screenplays, or any other similar document like college essays. In Storyist you can also create searchable outlines and notes cards for your piece, as well as the necessary headers and footers. The app is easy to navigate and uses Dropbox to sync your documents between devices (including your desktop!), making it easy to work from anywhere!

TouchDocs allows you to create, edit, and manage your Google documents of all types while on the go. You can also use TouchDocs to organize your files and create subfolders for easy storage and navigation. If you use Google docs and like that interface then this app is for you.
7. Flipboard

We all know how important it is to read as much as possible, especially when you are writer. Reading helps you to perfect your craft. Flipboard is my favorite app because it helps me to keep tabs on multiple online news sources. This app brings many of my favorite news sites to one app for easy view, search, and navigation. And because it integrates multiple websites, the content is always fresh. Sometimes, I use it to peek in on Facebook and Pinterest. Flipboard is free and easy to use on your mobile device or desktop.
It is essential to have the writing tool that works for you on hand at all times. I take my iPad mini with me everywhere! I love a good writing app, but it is crucial to have a pen and paper at all times too, just in case. Do you have any favorite apps for writers? Please, share!
